Should you go to Reiki classes in order to be attuned by symbols to the Reiki Energies?
This is a question that is being increasingly asked as there are opportunities on the web to be attuned to Reiki from a distance or self attunement.
The cost of Reiki classes is varied. Some Reiki Masters charge phenomenal sums of money, whilst others are far more reasonable. Even those sites on the web offering distant or self attunement can vary in price. So cost wise it probably doesn’t make much difference which attunement method you choose.
However some Reiki Masters would say that distant attunement or self attunement is not valid, because the person has to be present with the Reiki Master to be attuned. In my opinion this is rubbish. Why? Because Dr. Mikao Usui the founder of Reiki attuned himself. He had no-one there to do it for him.
Some people would like to become Reiki Practitioners but haven’t the time necessarily to go to classes on a set time and day. This is where distant or self attunement comes in. So what’s the difference between distant attunement and self attunement?
Distant attunement is when someone else still does the attunment but with out the recipient being present. It is normally performed when the recipient can sit quietly at an agreed time, whilst the attunement is taking place. However this is not essential as the Reiki attunement will be just as successful. The intent is there so the attunement is effective. The recipient will normally receive a manual, a Master certificate, together with evidence of their lineage, just as they would if they had attended classes.
Self attunement is when the recipient does just that, attunes themself to the reiki energies, usually by means of a cd explaining what should be done, meditations and the use of symbols. There is normally some reading to be done to understand how Reiki works and how to give reiki healings. A manual, certificate and lineage will also be issued.
So which is best. Well I think that it is personal preference. Some people will not feel comfortable or confident enough to self attune and would prefer the distant method, whilst yet others will stick to classes/workshops.
Which ever way you choose to receive Reiki energies, you can be sure that you will be attuned. The reiki is already within us all, it just needs a nudge to activate it. So do what you feel is right for you.
*Just to let you know there are some Reiki bodies/groups that will not accept you into the fold, if you haven’t been present with your Master for the attunements.
