I have recently been asked on my opinion on children receiving Reiki attunements. As a Reiki/Seichim Master/Practitioner I see no problem with this concept. There are those Reiki Masters who would disagree I am sure. But in my view if the child is old enough to read and understand the relevant information required before committing to an attunement, then I do not see a problem.
Many animals have been attuned to Reiki and animals are not in a position to fully understand what Reiki is all about. So if it is good enough for animals then I can not see why a child can not be attuned to Reiki.
I would expect the child to fully understand that the gift of Reiki is to be used for the highest good and that it is a serious commitment and not to be used as a gimmick or something to boast about with their friends.
Everything should be fully explained to the child, any questions answered and only when the Reiki Master is completely satisfied that there is true understanding and commitment should the attunement take place.
Through guidance I have developed a suitable Reiki manual and attunement for children that isn’t as involved as the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level 1, but opens the channels to the Reiki energies, just the same.
If more children became attuned to Reiki Level 1 they would mature into adults with a far greater understanding of the human condition and the world in which we live.
