It is probably very tempting to go for the Reiki treatment, especially if you dislike going to the doctors, or you are not very happy with the treatment you are getting. However the question ‘Reiki or Conventional Medicine?’ should really never be asked because Reiki is a compliment to and not a replacement for conventional medicine.
Whatever your concerns about your health you should always consult your G.P. Reiki Practitioners can not and should never diagnose health problems as they are not qualified to do so. If they happen to be a doctor as well as a Reiki Practitioner, then they could give you a diagnosis of your problem, but should do so in their capacity of doctor and not Reiki Practitioner and should inform you accordingly.
When you go for a Reiki treatment the practitioner should ask you for your reasons for wanting Reiki and should also check that you have seen your G.P. If you haven’t then they should advise you to do so and ask you to inform your G.P. that you are receiving Reiki. It is of course up to you whether you follow their advice, but the practitioner should record the information for future reference.
So whatever your reasons for seeking a Reiki treatment, assuming that it is a medical condition, always consult your doctor first. There should never be the question of ‘Reiki or Conventional Medicine?’
