In my opinion for Reiki and Energy healers to be taken seriously they should work to a Code of Conduct. Why should practitioners need to work to a ‘Code of Conduct’? Because  Reiki and Energy healers as with other medical practitioners,  need to know what is acceptable and what is not.

The clients/patients will feel much more at ease, knowing that the practitioner they are trusting, will show them respect and dignity and not compromise them in any way.

For that reason anyone giving Reiki or Energy Healing to a person whether for money or not should work to a Code of Conduct and the best way to do this is join and organisation that already has a Code of Conduct in place for the Practitioner to follow.

Most Energy (Spiritual) Healers that have been trained through a recognised healing organisation such as the National Federation of Spiritual healers or associate members of such an organisation, will have been trained following a Code of Conduct and once fully qualified will continue to follow this code.

Reiki Practitioners are not always members of organisations. Some Reiki organisations make it quite difficult to join, by not allowing practitioners that have been attuned by distant attunement or not allowing practitioners unless they have been trained by them or have not had enough years experience etc.

So there are probably a number of Reiki Practitioners that are not following a Code of Conduct so are really leaving themselves wide open for mistakes to be made.

As well as following a Code of Conduct, Reiki and Energy healers should be insured. In a time when a person can be sued for the smallest misdemeanour it is a must.

All this said, the majority of Reiki and Energy Healers are genuine people wanting to pass on their gift to help mankind and have no intention of causing any harm or compromising the client/patient in any way.

If you feel safe and at ease with your Reiki Practitioner or Energy healer then they are the right healer for you.

If you feel uneasy during the session or come away from  the healing session feeling uncomfortable or worse than when you went in, then I would suggest you find yourself a different healer.
