There are many myths surrounding Reiki and Spiritual healing. Most if not all of which are untrue. Most of these myths and misconceptions have come about due to peoples fear of the unknown and scepticism as to the effectiveness of the healing. It may just be that they think it’s a lot of hocus pocus with no foundation whatsoever. It is my belief that Reiki and Spiritual healing have been a natural gift to the human race since the beginning of time, but with our so called progress we have forgotten these gifts and natural abilities and opted for the more material world and the progress of science and medicine. It is only a minority of people who are searching for that missing element in their lives, who sometimes stumble into spiritual healing and Reiki.
The medical profession as a whole, give very little credence to alternative medicine, believing that the only way forward is through pill popping. I’m not saying that you should abandon conventional medicine, far from it, as the skills of the healer are not at miracle status and certainly for the now will compliment not replace conventional medicine.
*So what is Reiki? Pronounced Ray Kee in the West and Lay Kee in Japan it is usually translated as ‘Universal Life Force Energy’ or God directed Life Force Energy’ or ‘Spiritual Energy’. The word is divided into two parts, Rei is translated as the ‘wisdom and knowledge of all the Universe’ or ‘atmosphere of the Divine’. The Higher Intelligence that guides the creation and functioning of the Universe. Wisdom that comes from God, the Universe, All that Is, the Source, the Creator. This being all knowing and understands the need and cause of all problems and difficulties and how to heal them. Ki is the life force energy that flows through every living thing, plant, animal, human and which is present in some form in everything around us, even in rocks and inanimate objects.*
So that explains the word itself, but how would I describe what Reiki is to those of you who don’t already know. Reiki in a non-invasive therapy using a hands on healing technique, that is safe and gentle. It can be used on either yourself or others, using spiritual energy to treat physical ailments, without the use of pressure, manipulation or massage. It is a holistic therapy which is used to harmonize and heal the mind, body and spirit. It can also help with spiritual awareness and growth.
Reiki as we understand it in the West was developed by Dr Mikao Usui a Buddhist priest who lived from 1865 to 1926. After many years of study he found that he could access and use the healing energy and pass this ability onto other people. During the last few years of his life Usui developed Usui Reiki Ryoho which translated means Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method, becoming widely know throughout the Western World, as Reiki.

There are many misconceptions about Reiki Healing, but I believe that one day the whole world will wake up from it’s slumber and recognize their inherent truth. That each of us is like a musical note being played by the Divine, and that we all have a part in this amazing, incredible masterpiece. We are no more separate from God than we are from each other ❤
Thank you 🙂

I’m so pleased that I’m not the only one who feels like this. We are all one and once everyone realises this the Earth will be whole again.

I was introduced to the site, I.R.E.H.G by a beloved sister in light, I am astounded that I have not come across this site earlier. Everywhere I look or read about attunements and the methods of Reiki etc seem to be riddled with what I perceive as RED TAPE about how teachings and attunements should be done. Reading lots of articles I became drawn to the principles that practitioners live by and totally got hooked on it, have been in Reiki ever since. My beliefs of Reiki are simple. As from birth you are already the master of energies, everyone has this ability but lies dormant as we are not on the life course that we understand as ENERGY within. channeling Reiki is what I call the release of inner senses and feelings, most of us have an affinity to care and love everyone and everything, so in fact we are of the sense REIKI PRACTITIONERS but do not have the knowledge or the mindset to use this ability, having attunements helps release this ability in stages and help become more proficient in using it for the benefit of others and oneself. I also believe that Reiki Healers / Practitioners do NOT need to be attuned or taught by Reiki Masters in person etc but it would be more of a gratification to honor the person chosen, Saying that; I don’t recognize the strict regime of some Masters and practitioners who criticize others who have learned the system of reiki in a different manner but have done the same readings and practice as would have been done in the traditional way. These people have their opinions but not to the progressive meaning of calling these people charlatans or fakes just because they have not followed the traditional ways and have not got ” Qualified Certificates”. I accept all whether self practiced , self attuned or any other means, If they practice successfully then why not recognize them as the levels they have achieved in this manner. So having this site is a great way to promote the practice for ALL regardless of how they learned, I Bow Humbly to the creator of this site, Love to all. Namaste. PS. I apologize for this lengthy post but thought it necessary. xxx

There is no standard for Reiki, and anyone can call him/herself a Reiki professional.
That lack of standard makes it a difficulty being taken seriously by conventional modern medicine.
So what standard should be adopted, a crown that is open and energy flows through (receiving) or a Crown that appears to be closed and is in fact (giving out) holding within a practitioner the higher vibrations that have been applied through the attunement process.
Many practitioners believe that the system of Reiki is Spiritual but a minority suggest that it is not Spiritual but as a result of an attunement that selected energy centres (Chakras) have had their vibrations increased and by changing the direction of those Chakras from receiving to giving out energy flows and is considered to be a healing application.
Critics of the System claim that it has not been scientifically/clinically tested but how can anything be clinically when the similarity is only the name “Reiki “.
So where does one start in the understanding of this system that is called Reiki.
What is your opinion?

“I’m not saying that you should abandon conventional medicine, far from it, as the skills of the healer are not at miracle status and certainly for the now will compliment not replace conventional medicine.”– I love this stance! I love technology and progress, but I believe that reiki and spiritual healing are great as well. And the human touch can’t be replicated by machines 🙂
